Canadian, Montreal-based artisanal brand Sinai Gourmet creates delicious, preservative-free sauces under its clean-eating ethos
It took Laurence Isaac, the founder of Montreal-based artisanal sauce company Sinai Gourmet, more than two years to perfect his first recipe. It took hundreds of tests to learn how to keep the sauces fresh and shelf-stable without adding the preservatives so often found in other products. Sure, it would have been easier – and cheaper – to use vinegar, water and salt to stretch out the ingredients and shelf life. But that didn’t fit in with Laurence’s grand vision.
Sinai Gourmet, which was founded in 2011, is absolutely committed to making fresh, clean label, flavourful gourmet sauces that enhance your meals and your health.
All of the fresh peppers and herbs are vegan - with the exception of the sustainably sourced honey - as well as low sodium and gluten free. Everything is also completely free of any artificial ingredients whatsoever. This clean-eating ethos is so embedded in the brand’s philosophy that they’ve even coined a term for it: EAT NAKED.
Sinai Gourmet has original varieties of the sauces such as habanero, jalapeno or ghost, but also maple versions of the same.
Then you’ve got the Hot Ones-starrer Tropiquante, which blends banana, mango, papaya, pineapple and Scotch bonnet for a bold punch of Caribbean flavours - and it's available on House of Habanero. As is Blueberry Pie, a dessert hot sauce that combines blueberries, vanilla, cinnamon and citrus with a tongue-tingling warmth, taking those sweet, sweet flavours to another level.
